John Edward Burns passed away on December 7th, 2019 at age 88 years.
John was born in Fort Macleod on October 2nd, 1931. His family moved to Lethbridge in 1941, where he completed his schooling. At age 18 years, John joined the Canadian Army. John’s active service was a Tour in Korea, and he served from September 28th, 1949 and was “Honorably Released” September 28th, 1952 when he was wounded. He was awarded the Korean Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. As a member of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, Second Battalion, he was awarded the United States Distinguished Unit Citation. In 1975 he was stricken at age 44 with a serious Brain Aneurism.
He is survived by his siblings Elaine Anderson, Evelyn (Curt) Hansen, Barbara (Yukio) Kitagawa and Gordon (Roberta) Burns.
Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
