Mrs. Irene “Renee” Easton of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Easton, oldest women in Alberta, and 9th oldest person in Canada, passed away at Edith Cavell Care Centre on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the age of 110 years.
Renee was born to Alex and Florence Wood in London England, and came to Lethbridge in 1911. She was raised and educated in Lethbridge and in her youth, she worked for her father as a photographer. She married her husband John in 1932 and in 1943, Renee gave birth to her daughter Lynne. Renee was well known for her piano playing for the various nursing homes and hospitals, entertaining those who were shut in. Renee was a member of the IODE, the last member of the Pemmican Club, the Trinity Group and played many events at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church.
Renee is survived by her daughter Lynne (Jim) Davis; granddaughter Terri Davis; grandson Mark Davis; great-granddaughters Ainsleigh Davis, Breanna Maley; great-grandson Chase Maley and nephew John Easton.
Renee was predeceased by her husband John Easton.
Cremation was entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels and a private family graveside service will be held in the spring of 2019.
