Gloria Johnson Obituary

Mrs. Gloria Johnson of Lethbridge passed away at Milk River Extendicare on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the age of 85 years.

Gloria was born in Idaho, U.S.A on December 25, 1933. She grew up in Grandview and Ephrata, Washington, U.S.A, with her mother M.G, sister Pat and grandmother Dee.  Gloria and her sister Pat helped their mother run the diner she owned. She then went to Joplin, Montana to spend some time with her father Elmo (Eddie) Marsh.  While there, Gloria worked at the Joplin telephone office. It was there that she met Arnold Johnson, and they were married on December 31, 1954 in Seattle Washington.

Gloria raised 4 children, Colleen, Steffen, Kristine, and Aaron.  After Arnold and his brother Bud purchased land in Canada in 1963, Gloria and Arnold moved the family to the Hoping area in early 1964.  They divorced in 1976, but then remarried a few years later on December 31, 1978 and celebrated 25 years of marriage. She worked at the Foremost Liquor Store and Post Office, then divorced Arnold.

Gloria moved to Lethbridge, Alberta where she worked at the Post Office, and Marshall’s Fabric Store.  She also enjoyed working the Hobbie World at the Exhibition for a few years.  Gloria moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, then came back to Lethbridge.

She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and writing.  She also enjoyed being involved with the Nordbridge Writing Goup and loved to dance and play pool. She learned to sew for her children, and even made barbie doll clothes for their dolls. Her favourite flowers were orchids.

Gloria was predeceased by her mother, father, and sister.

Gloria is survived by 2 daughters, Colleen (Boyd) Bianchi and Kristine (Steve) Yanke; 2 sons, Steffen (Sandi) Johnson, and Aaron (Barry) Johnson; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild, and her niece Marcia Lander (Richard Fox) from New Mexico; 1 great niece; 2 great nephews; 2 great-great- niece and nephew.

We will all miss our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, and we are thankful for all the cherished memoires.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00pm, on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the MILK RIVER HERITAGE HALL, 213 Main Street, Milk River, Alberta.
