Mrs. Emma Schigelski of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Schigelski (1993) passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the age of 98.
Emma was born into a Christian family to Johann and Adeline Wellert on July 14, 1920, one of five sisters and 4 brothers. In 1950 Emma immigrated from Germany to Canada where she married her loving husband, John Schigelski. Together they farmed in Wrentham and in 1962 they purchased a farm in the Magrath area and moved there in 1964. It was a picture- perfect place where they took a lot of pride in building and maintaining the farmstead. They loved to travel and went to many places around the world.
In 1986 they retired and moved to their new home in Lethbridge where they made many new friends. Emma enjoyed her garden, flowers, needlepoint and crocheting. A meticulous housekeeper and great cook as she invited the entire neighborhood to visit and eat at their home. She enjoyed company and loved to entertain. Emma loved her Lord and was actively involved in the Lutheran Church.
In February 2003, Emma moved into her condo where she met more friends and continued to entertain. Then in 2011 she moved into Sunrise Village where she made even more new friends. Due to failing health, in July 2017 Emma moved to St. Therese Villa where she resided until her passing. The family is grateful to the staff of St. Therese for the care she received.
Emma is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
