Mr. Ed Mathieu of Lethbridge passed away peacefully, with his children by his side, on Monday, February 4, 2019 at the age of 82 years.
Dad was born on September 21, 1936 in Perigord, Saskatchewan. Dad loved fishing, camping, spending time at his cabin, curling, and playing pool with his buddies. He also loved to watch Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and The Young and The Restless. Dad loved his adventures travelling to Mexico and Cuba with his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews. On our trips, before bed, dad would always say “just one more tequila!”. Cheers to you dad.
He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, as we cherished the time spent with him. His sense of humor was the greatest. Dad also loved country music and especially loved fiddle music. He was known as “Grampie” or “Uncle Ed” to many. He will be dearly missed, but we take comfort knowing he’s with our mom, the love of his life.
Ed is survived by Adelia Mathieu; two daughters Cheryl (Tim) DeJager, Cynthia (Rob) Wauters, both of Lethbridge; three sons Larry Mathieu of Calgary, Darrell Mathieu of Lethbridge, and Wayne (Deb) Mathieu of Beaumont, AB; grandchildren Kris, Leah, and Taylor Mathieu, Nevada and Brodie DeJager, Courtney and Tyler Mathieu, and Noah and Hope Wauters; two sisters Diane Scott, and Lilliane (Jim) Russell; two brothers Ray (Therese) Mathieu, and Jeremie (Cecil) Mathieu.
Besides his loving wife Irene, Ed was predeceased by his parents, and two brothers Eugene Mathieu, and Tommy Mathieu.
