Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels in conjunction with the Alberta Funeral Service Association want to advise the city of Lethbridge & surrounding communities of the following guidelines after State of Emergency announcement made by the Government of Alberta surrounding the COVID-19 Outbreak:
How does this affect our Community?
The caring and experienced professionals at Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels will continue to operate with the same level of professional care, supporting our community during their time of grief. We need to act with caution due to the infectious nature of the virus from person to person. As a community we need to make sure we are proactive in taking measures to prevent the unintended spread of the COVID-19 virus.
•If you may be feeling flu like symptoms, please refrain from attending a public gathering, which includes a funeral service / celebration of life
•Please refrain from any physical offering of condolence (hand shaking, hugging, etc.)
•Funerals or Celebrations of life where people may gather in excess of 15 people should consider postponing or live streaming— please contact Martin Brothers for more information
•No funeral receptions can take place until the Chief Medical Officer lifts public gathering restriction
•Continue to practice good personal hygiene, which includes the use of hand sanitizer and proper hand washing techniques.
How does this affect Funeral Services?
At present time Martin Brothers will continue to serve the public, with our top priority of protecting the general public and our staff. At the current time, any gathering with the expectation of 50 people or more MUST be postponed until further notice. This will ensure that we keep our community members safe and are actively doing our part to limit the spread of the virus. Martin Brothers will continue to offer a range of personalized services, paying close attention to limiting gatherings that could lead to the potential spread of illness.
As we continue to serve the city of Lethbridge and surrounding communities, we have implemented the following measures to protect ourselves and our community:
•We have implemented a Social Distancing Policy for staff and visitors (which includes no hand shaking, hugging or close talking)
•Increased our disinfection of areas which see high volumes of public traffic (including door handles, telephones, etc.)
•Placed hand sanitizing stations at all entrances and exits at our building
•Increased requests for staff to practice proper hand hygiene multiply times throughout the day
•Sent a companywide mandate that any staff member who is experiencing flu like symptoms will remain at home in a self-quarantine until further testing can be completed by Alberta Health Services
•Any staff that have been outside the country will be immediately placed in a 2-week self-quarantine
•Offer live streamed services for families, and online/telephone funeral arrangement conferences
•We ask the public, that if you have experienced any flu like symptoms to remain at home and contact our office by telephone to arrange for the live streaming links to be provided
As we all navigate through this period, please remain diligent with staying up to date with the information provided to us by the World Health Organization, Government of Canada, and the Government of Alberta.
