William “Sonny” Buis

1938 ~ 2018

Mr. William “Sonny” Buis of Foremost, loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2018.

Sonny was born on March 26, 1938 in Foremost and spent all of his life in this community. At an early age he developed a very strong work ethic, a love for animals, and a love for the game of golf.  His life was spent growing his business, first with his Aunt and Uncle with White Rose and many years with Shell.  He met the love of his life Charlotte in High School and they were married August 6, 1960.  Sonny’s pride and joy was his family and the community of Foremost.  He loved nothing more than to spend time with his children and to watch his grandchildren play hockey, volleyball, baseball, dance and skate.  He spent many wonderful days at the lake watching the kids on the water.  He cherished the trips to Whitefish, Cruises, the Dominican, and most recently to Hawaii this Christmas.

He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Charlotte Buis; children, Lorne (Kerri) Buis of Foremost, Lisa (Warren) Bechthold of Foremost, and Chris (Ron) Preddy of Lethbridge; grandchildren, Taunie (Nathan) Magnuson, Colby Bechthold (Kayla), Kristen and Luke Preddy; sister, Alice (John) Haraga; brother, Richard (Jay) Buis; sister-in-law, Lyn Dillenbeck and many very special nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Dirk and Jantina Buis; mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Ann Dillenbeck; uncle Bill and Auntie Christina Buis, brother-in-law, Bryan Dillenbeck; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Carol Ewach.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, January 12, 2018 at the FOREMOST COMMUNITY HALL, 802 - 1 Avenue West, Foremost, Alberta with Reverend Pauline Bell officiating. Inurnment to follow in the Foremost Cemetery.

He loved this community and in lieu of flowers if you wish to make a donation please do so to the charity of your choice in the Village of Foremost.
